Dan Walters is arguably California’s
finest political columnist, and his reality-based approach makes him very
‘radical middle’ in many ways. In particular, I am greatly intrigued by his
proposals to radically overhaul California governance and rationalize tax collection . I actually asked
him if anyone was attempting to implement that, but he said its “virgin
territory”. Perhaps someday I’ll write a model
constitution along those lines myself…
