Billy Rojas' Radical Centrist Manifesto, Part I
The prolific Billy Rojas has just posted another
impressive article, on the detailed philosophical and historical basis of
Radical Centrism:
Some the key themes I noticed:
• Reinventing Liberalism
• Radical Centrism as the politics of
critical synthesis
• Ideas must be based on a) research, b)
morality, and c) convictions
• Understanding that America's current
parties are based on absurdities
• Integrating personal, social, and
political responsibility
• Recognizing the non-economic basis of
economic growth
• Systematic politics in which ideology is
subordinated to scientific knowledge about the human
condition
Perhaps the best way to get
the flavor of his Manifesto is his description of Radical Centrist heroes,
who:
were willing to take politics as they
found it. Then they worked with the system, seeking out opportunities to create
new alternatives for culture -thus their ideas were maximized as much as was
thinkable under the circumstances of the past
